Solicitor Job Description
We are assisting a Public Sector Organisation in Belfast with the recruitment of a Solicitor to join their team.
* This is a Full-Time Monday - Friday position, working 37 hours per week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The successful candidate will provide professional and timely expert legal advice on a wide range of employment matters, including non-contentious advisory work and acting in defence of employment related proceedings. Responsibilities include:
1. Providing research into legal issues and offering strategic opinion papers and advice to clients.
2. Drafting Tribunal proceedings/pleadings, collating discovery, and preparing briefs for counsel and trial bundles.
3. Participating in building and maintaining an effective Legal Services team, ensuring a high-quality service aligned with organisational objectives.
4. Preparing briefing materials for Committee and Board approval as required, and attending meetings as necessary.
5. Reporting on all legal work to the supervising Senior Solicitor, enabling compliance with reporting controls.
6. Providing excellent customer service, including owning customer queries and complaints.
Essential criteria for the role include:
* Possessing a degree-level qualification or equivalent.
* Being a solicitor qualified to practice in Northern Ireland.
* Demonstrating at least 3 years' post-qualification experience in employment law.
* Having a strong understanding of Industrial Tribunal practice and procedure in Northern Ireland.
* Possessing a current driving license or having access to suitable transport.
