The Team and the opportunity
The National Planning Framework together with the National Development Plan guide strategic development and infrastructure investment at national level. These ambitious plans outline the Government’s key areas of focus and its €165 billion capital expenditure commitment to make Ireland a better country for all of its people.
EY’s leading Government and Infrastructure Advisory (G&IA) team is looking to further expand to capture the opportunities these investment plans provide and assist our clients deliver upon them.
Our team provides strategic, commercial and financial advice on all aspects of the development, structuring, procurement, financing and delivering of infrastructure and real estate projects. Our people are drawn from professional services, finance, investment banking, Government, economics, construction, funds management and industry.
Join our Government and Infrastructure Advisory (G&IA) team and you join a team of experienced professionals who bring excellence in the planning, procurement and delivery of infrastructure to clients across the public and private sector. You will work across a range of sectors (including Transport, Energy, Utilities, Real Estate, and Communications etc), providing the following core Services:
Services:
Strategic advice and business planning - various advice relating to strategic matters, the appraisal of investment cases, preparation of investment/business plans.
Procurement – commercial advice to public and private clients in relation to the procurement of infrastructure assets and complex services.
Financing – appraisal and raising of commercial finance to support the delivery of infrastructure projects.
Funding - Supporting clients in relation to grant applications and other Public sector funding matters.
PPPs – advising public and private clients in relation to the design, procurement and funding of infrastructure assets through PPP
Contract / Grant Management – supporting the financial management of PPP contracts and grant programmes.
Asset Management – supporting clients in creating value across the lifecycle of a project or portfolio of assets.
Infrastructure M&A – supporting the process of acquiring and selling businesses and assets in infrastructure sector.
Secondments – provision of temporary resources to organisations to support with the delivery of major capital projects.
Your key responsibilities
Working under the supervision of a Partner and/or Director, you will play a lead role in the delivery of Services to clients. You will support through:
Understanding our client requirements and co-developing our approach with the client
Gathering, verifying and analysing information to formulate views.
Understand, manipulate and interpret financial data and client information, drawing appropriate conclusions.
Review Excel models and arrive at preliminary conclusions.
Carry out relevant analysis, present findings (both written and orally) and provide value to our clients through insights, factual conclusions and advice.
Project management of team, client and stakeholders (which may include investors, lenders, public officials, other advisors etc)
Managing the day-to-day progression of assignments to include planning, preparing and reviewing various forms of deliverables to include reports and presentations.
Apply a focus on anticipating and identifying risks that require escalation and subsequently escalating these risks as appropriate.
Providing mentoring, coaching and support to junior team members
Managing client engagement tasks, including billing and other administration
Working closely with colleagues to ensure that work is properly executed, documented and concluded in compliance with our Quality & Risk Management guidelines.
Developing detailed proposals and other business development material
Actively establishing, maintaining and strengthening your internal and external relationships.
Maintaining and constantly upgrading technical knowledge and personal skills.

Good commercial acumen and general commercial skills
Highly numerate with a sound grasp of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with the development of financial models
Excellent interpersonal and client management skills
Strong leadership skills, willingness to learn and a positive attitude
To qualify for the role you must have
Experience/competency in two or more of the Services we provide (strategic advice and business planning, procurement, financing, funding, PPPs, contract/grant management, asset management, infrastructure M&A)
Accountancy, corporate finance or equivalent qualification with proven relevant and transferrable work experience
Relevant degree, numeric subjects preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in English.
Demonstrable organization and self-management skills
Strong interpersonal skills and client focus are important, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
Ideally, you’ll also have
A track record in infrastructure advisory and/or corporate finance advisory, experience of working in a professional services environment, and exposure to high profile transactions, would all be a distinct advantage
Government and public sector experience
Excellent business development and relationship management skills
