Purchaser/Buyer Role
We are seeking a skilled Purchaser/Buyer to join our team at one of Ireland's leading Civil Contractors for projects in Cork.
Job Summary
This is a site-based position that varies depending on the project. As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement process, responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services for our company.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and purchase construction materials, tools, and services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
* Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage contracts.
* Track procurement costs, monitor expenses, and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
* Coordinate timely material deliveries and manage on-site inventory to avoid delays.
* Work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure material needs align with project schedules.
Requirements
* 3-5 years of experience in construction procurement or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Buyer or similar role, with experience in procurement and supply chain management.
* Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
* Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
* Solid understanding of sourcing strategies, contract management, and purchasing best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organisation.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards in the procurement field.
Salary
€50k - €70k DOE (dependent on experience)
