DESCRIPTION
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is crucial to our operations, responsible for keeping vital machinery operational at all times. As an RME Technician, your duties include maintaining a wide range of equipment and workspaces while adhering to Health and Safety standards. Your role is vital in ensuring safety, minimizing machine downtime, and enhancing the operational environment.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Performing proactive and preventative maintenance on site equipment.
2. Carrying out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse.
3. Utilizing the latest tools to maximize equipment effectiveness.
4. Upholding all health and safety policies and practices.
5. Supporting the development and progression of on-site apprentices.
6. Participating in continuous improvement projects and implementing best practices across EU sites.
A day in the life
Based on-site, RME Technicians respond promptly to machinery issues, conducting planned preventative maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency. They respond to breakdowns, investigate issues, implement solutions, and suggest long-term improvements. The role involves collaboration with senior colleagues for day-to-day maintenance tasks, liaising with external contractors when necessary, and working on various shifts to support 24/7 operations.
About the team
The RME team maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment across Amazon’s global fulfillment centers. The team includes leaders overseeing exciting technologies like Amazon Robotics and complex sorting systems. Opportunities for career progression are available within the team and across Amazon, focusing on reducing downtime and ensuring timely customer deliveries. The team often works during off-peak hours to minimize disruption, and is empowered to develop and implement innovative processes and technologies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* NFQ6 (Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Engineering) or Solace/Solas level 6 in Mechanical/Electrical or Mechatronics.
* Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
* Fault-finding experience within Material Handling Equipment (MHE) or automation systems.
* Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
* Experience with conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters. Proof of qualifications may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng.
* Experience with high voltage switching.
* Experience with sortation machines.
* Experience maintaining/configuring barcode scanners.
* Experience with print and apply machines.
* Experience fault-finding on building equipment such as HVAC, dock doors, plumbing, and general maintenance.
