The Role of a Support Worker
The support worker is responsible for assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities to meet their daily needs, reach their full potential, and promote independence. The role involves supporting people to further their education and build independent living skills. A major focus is on assisting individuals in developing their Individual Plan and achieving their Personal Outcome goals.
Responsibilities
* Assist individuals with personal care, including meals, hygiene, and physical well-being
* Support individuals in developing their Individual Plan and achieving Personal Outcome goals
* Provide assistance with education and independent living skills
* Work with the team to provide high-quality services to each individual
Requirements
* Good general education
* Recognised qualification in intellectual disability (QQI Level 5 or higher desirable)
* Minimum one year's experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities (full training provided)
* Familiarity with person-centred planning
* Full clean manual driving license (Class D1 required for some roles)
* Fluency in verbal and written English
Working Hours and Benefits
* Full-time hours: 78 hours a fortnight
* Part-time hours vary
* Rostered over a 14-day/night duty roster
* Annual leave: 22 days per annum
* Department of Health Care Assistant (Intellectual Disability) salary scale (max €45,190 pro rata per annum)
