The Organisation:
Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA).
We provide a wide range of person centered services including residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin area.
Purpose of the Post:
The Area Manager working with Cheeverstown New Directions services will provide managerial and professional leadership to the New Directions Management Team ensuring consistent high-quality supports are provided in line with best practice, using a Person-Centred approach in accordance with Transforming Lives and New Directions Standards. This is a part time (17.5hrs), specified purpose contract.
The Area Manager ensures that the will and preference of the individual is placed at the centre of decision making and satisfies themselves that this is being achieved within their area. The successful candidate must demonstrate an excellent ability to work with people, to inspire confidence and influence others and places high importance on maintaining good communication with people who are important in the lives of those supported by Cheeverstown Service. In addition, the successful candidate will join a leadership team that is driving forward change through increasing the valued social roles of the people Cheeverstown supports.
Responsibilities:
* Assume leadership role within the New Directions services allocated within their remit
* Assume a lead role within New Directions services in ensuring that Cheeverstown achieves its strategic and operational priorities and goals
* Actively promote and live the ethos, mission, vision, and values of Cheeverstown Service
* Ensure the work agenda is driven by the strategic plan of the organisation
* Provide and model strong leadership through the development of effective engagement and communication (both formal and informal) with stakeholders
* Assist in the formulation of policies, protocols, guidelines and procedures which will ensure the highest standard of person centred focused services.
* Effective and efficient management of allocated resources
* In partnership with the New Directions Programme Manager, support the transition of school leavers / young adults to New Directions services
* Deputise in the absence of the New Directions Programme Manager to provide governance across New Directions services
* To contribute to the development of a person centred service and promote the development of all individuals we support.
* To be a champion of dignity, empathy and inclusion for all people with disabilities, within the community
* Work effectively to build and sustain local teams, promoting the contribution of all staff grades
* Maintain a high level of presence in the various locations within the area, sufficient to ensure that the post holder has a strong first-hand sense of the quality of the service user experience
* Conduct and review all internal and external audits as assigned by the New Directions Programme Manager
* Foster a strong mentoring and supervision ethos within their staff teams
* Deliver service requirements within assigned budget
* Participate in business case submissions
* Participate in service review and capacity expansion
* Attend training as required by the organisation, and to seek to continuously develop professionally through education, training, networking, updates and other sources as are available.
* Perform any other tasks, assignments, or duties required as arise from time to time or in line with requirements of the organization
Person specification:
* Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum 3 years' relevant experience working with people with disabilities and community partners.
* Possess a management qualification and experience in management.
* Full driver's license and access to use of own car.
* The successful applicant will have a proven record of success.
Please note: All job offers are subject to two successful references, ongoing Garda Vetting, relevant qualifications and a satisfactory pre-employment medical. Salary is in accordance with HSE consolidated pay scales, depending on qualifications and experience.
