Grade VII - Support Services Manager, University Hospital Kerry
The Support Services Manager (Grade VII) will report to the Operations Manager/ Deputy Manager UHK.
The Grade VII Support Services Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager/Deputy Manager and the wider senior hospital management team and will be a key support to all partners throughout the hospital.
The post holder will be responsible for planning and implementing the safe delivery of non-clinical support services in the hospital, in compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and best practice in relation to the Health Information and Quality (HIQA) National Hygiene Standards and the Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards for the delivery of catering services and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) for dangerous goods, Environmental Monitoring and Fire Safety.
The position of Grade VII Support Services Manager encompasses both managerial and administrative responsibilities. The Support Services Manager will support the Operations Manager / Deputy Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of the hospital, whilst having a lead responsibility for Business and Performance Management / Improvement in Non-clinical Support Services. The role will support the UHK clinical staff in the provision of the necessary services and functions to enhance patient care and experience in the hospital and work collaboratively to ensure best practice.
The Support Services Manager will be responsible and accountable for the operational management of the hospital’s non-clinical support services including:
* Catering
* Household
* Portering
* Hygiene
* Security (including swipe access, site security)
* Telephony
* Transport (including transport vehicles rented or owned by the HSE in use in UHK)
* Waste Management (removal, sorting, recycling and disposal of waste materials)
* Environmental Monitoring (Legionella Bacterium and Pest Control) and Decontamination and Sterilisation functions
The role will also be responsible for the planning, organising, controlling and directing of the non-clinical support services with Department Heads with respect to the hospital and statutory requirements, policies and standards. The Support Services Manager will have the responsibility for the following within his / her defined scope:
* Management of Non-clinical Support Services on a day-to-day basis
* Service Development
* Human Resource Management and Organisational Development
* Quality Assurance and Risk Management
