Post: Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher - No2Nitrates, DAFM/ FIRM Project - School of Food Science & Environmental Health - (Fixed term specified purpose contract for up to 5 years with initial funding for 15 months) Reference: 03/2025
Location: The post will be based at one of the TU Dublin Campuses i.e. Grangegorman (Parkhouse), Blanchardstown or Tallaght.
Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation.
Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale i.e. €52,715 gross per annum with relevant qualification and experience. Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy.

It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place late February or early March 2025. The interview assessment will be 40 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 10 minutes duration. The topic of this presentation will be as follows:
‘Analytical chemistry methods to determine Nitrosamines in cooked and fermented Meat’

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent, and abilities required for the role as outlined below and must satisfy all of the essential criteria:
Essential
1. A PhD or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry.
2. Evidence of a research profile and publication record within the analytical chemistry and/or food analysis area.
3. Knowledge of Chromatographic techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS/MS and/or LC-MS/MS research techniques and methodologies.
4. Commitment to high quality research.
Essential Criteria for a Senior Post-doctoral Researcher
1. Successfully completed at least one Post-doctoral Fellowship or equivalent in the public or private sector.
2. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their demonstration of meeting every essential criterion so are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria.
Desirable
1. Experience of food safety assessment and statistical analysis.
2. IELTS of 6 or above certified English language proficiency.

In the case of a 1st Post-doctoral Fellowship where the applicant may not have graduated yet, the successful applicant must, at the time of appointment, provide a letter from the appropriate graduate studies office confirming that the student has completed the programme including all the examination requirements and is just awaiting the formal graduation ceremony and the likely date on which that will take place.
