This position of GIS & Wind Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the development of renewable energy projects including wind energy, battery storage, and hybrid projects. The role provides services throughout the various stages of development from concept through to construction stage. Working as part of the GIS and Resource Management Team, the role will utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other modeling tools to assist in site selection, project feasibility studies, site layouts, and map production.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the management and delivery of GIS analysis for the FuturEnergy Ireland team to ensure the highest quality development assets are brought forward in support of Ireland's decarbonisation and energy security ambitions.
* Support and assist the Wind Resource, Land, Planning, Community Engagement, and Project Management teams with GIS Analysis requirements using a variety of GeoProcessing Tools to produce maps/reports using ESRI ArcGIS and ArcPro software packages.
* Support wind farm layout design and turbine placement optimization by providing detailed constraint analysis that assesses environmental, topographical, and wind characteristics.
* Collaborate with FuturEnergy Ireland’s development team to integrate environmental, planning, and other constraints information into site selection and feasibility studies.
* Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and geospatial datasets to support project development and stakeholder engagement.
* Support and assist the Wind Resource Management Team in maintaining the existing ArcGIS Online Platform, publishing spatial data, creating additional web and mobile mapping applications, creating ArcGIS desktop workflows to aid with map production and digitisation tasks.
* Work with the FuturEnergy Ireland development team and external advisors to assist with the mapping of land agreements for turbine delivery routes, grid routes, and other land mapping requirements.
* Apply remote sensing techniques for land classification and terrain analysis.
* Develop and manage spatial data workflows to streamline GIS processes.
* Prepare technical reports, presentations, and data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.

Desired Technical/Professional Competencies:
* Degree or recognised qualification in GIS, Environmental Science, Geography, Renewable Energy, Engineering, CAD, or a related field with professional GIS experience will also be considered. Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge of core GIS principles and related technologies, professional expertise in the use of ESRI’s suite of software packages including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online.
* Professional experience in the production of high-quality drawings for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
* Experience of working on environmental assessments, commercial project development, or any aspect of the development of renewable energy projects.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills with great attention to detail.
* Proficiency in industry-standard software such as WindFarmer Analyst, WAsP, OpenWind, or equivalent modeling tools desirable but not essential.
* Proficient in the use of AutoCAD including Civil3D and Vehicle Tracking or other project design software desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge of Python, R, or other programming languages for geospatial data processing is an advantage.
