Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - First Contact MSK Permanent Contract, 0.5 WTE Hours.
Mercy University Hospital Minor Injury Unit - Gurranabraher (MIUG), based at St Mary's Health Campus Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Work as first contact practitioner at the most advanced level in physiotherapy practice in line with their competency level; triaging, diagnosing and managing patients with diverse presentations and highly complex physical and psychological conditions in the musculoskeletal field.
Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
Be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.
To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support more junior staff to do likewise.
Undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.
Ensure that professional standards of practice and locally developed clinical policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensure the privacy and dignity of the patient is always respected.
Work within the multidisciplinary team ethos and liaise with staff to ensure that effective communication always takes place.
Communicate effectively with patients; providing accurate and appropriate information regarding clinical diagnosis, prognosis and physiotherapy management.
Act as resource within the MIUG in his/her specialist clinical area to other members of the multidisciplinary team and provide specialist advice, teaching and training to other members of the MDT.
Eligibility Criteria - Qualifications and/or Experience: Each candidate must on the latest date for receipt of completed application form possess BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Dublin, OR BSc in Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, OR Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Honours) Degree from the National University of Ireland, OR Diploma in Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National University of Dublin, OR BSc.
(Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Limerick, OR a qualification in Physiotherapy at least equivalent to one of the fore mentioned, OR be registered or be eligible for registration as a Physiotherapist by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU.
Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapist Register maintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapist register maintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU.
Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Demonstrate a proven record of clinical/academic achievement including formal continuing development in their specialist field.
A minimum of five years' satisfactory post qualification clinical experience in orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and/or emergency medicine specialities.
Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to fulfil the functions of the role.

Post graduate education in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy or specific experience working with this client group in a similar setting.
