The Investments business is one of the key drivers of revenues and profitability at AIG. Our Investments professionals are responsible for investing the insurance premiums and deposits we collect to generate net investment income that is available to pay claims or benefits and provide returns to shareholders. AIG Investments provides advisory and asset management solutions to AIG, its business units and third-party clients, globally, maintaining an internal investment platform across multiple asset classes. These asset classes include investment grade and high yield corporate debt, sovereign and emerging market debt, municipal debt, securitized products, residential and commercial mortgage loans, private placements, real estate, public equities and
private equity. The Investment team is comprised of portfolio managers, traders, research analysts, product owners, loan originators and underwriters and other professionals endeavouring to provide strong returns on our clients’ invested capital. At AIG Investments, we are thought leaders in the global asset management industry with expertise and capital spanning the globe.
About the Role – Investment Operations Analyst
The successful candidate will report into the Head of Operations, providing back/middle office support to both Internal and External Stakeholders not limited to but including, AIG Affiliate Insurance Co’s, Third Party Investors, Global Capital Markets, Compliance and AIG Treasury. Additional responsibility of this role includes oversight of investment activities performed on behalf of the AIG General Insurance International Portfolio by local investment teams and by external investment managers, in addition to governance relating to external manager oversight. A part of the role will be project oriented, related to the dynamic requirements of the business and the investments group.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the oversight of Blackrock DSS team IBOR reconciliations output including monitoring of Cash and Asset Exceptions, ensuring escalation where required following review of key fields such as root cause. This includes preparation and delivery of weekly, monthly, and annual reports to support adherence to established control framework.
* Responsible for maintenance of PMF (Portfolio Master File) workflow tool to ensure that requests are actioned in a timely manner and support adherence to established control framework.
* Support monthly pricing process for relevant universe of securities on Aladdin.
* Support monitoring and maintenance of FAS157 levelling process
* Act as a single point of contact for Portfolio Managers, CIO team, and Insurance Companies in respect to Investment operations queries.
* The oversight of externally managed portfolios, including an annual review of investment performance and operational performance for all external managers, and an annual recommendation to the investment committee as to whether the manager should be retained, or whether a new manager should be sought.
* Manage the delivery of investment committee objectives on behalf of the General Insurance International CIO team, specifically as it relates to ensuring IPGs are reaffirmed, Charters are reaffirmed, and an annual self-assessment is completed.
* A further responsibility of this role is to assist in the management and delivery of project initiatives, as requested by the General Insurance CIO team. This includes Aladdin implementation, third party outsourcing.
Person Specification
* Degree in business, finance or a related discipline
* 5+ years’ experience working in an investments or asset management environment, ideally with a focus on operations, governance and compliance
* Robust investments and business knowledge, with understanding of both front and back office processes within an investments business
* A strong and demonstrable understanding of the fixed income asset class, support of investment operations, and corporate governance structures required within an investment manager
* Proven experience and ability to develop relationships with multiple internal stakeholders and partner on key business initiatives
* Experience dealing with senior managers, coordinating deliverables, prioritizing tasks accordingly, and realizing objectives
* Proven expertise with business intelligence tools, SQL, VBA, Microsoft Excel, and translating this into an ability to manage and interpret large arrays of data
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong ability to work independently, while also comfortable collaborating with a team
