Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in plastic thermoforming, G-code, and 5-axis CNC programming and setting. As the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing complex engineering projects, mentoring junior engineers, and driving design and production improvements across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
2. Develop and optimize processes for plastic thermoforming, including material selection, mold design, and cycle time optimization.
3. Oversee and perform 5-axis CNC programming, ensuring precise part manufacturing and troubleshooting production issues.
4. Develop and write G-code for CNC machines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in production processes.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and quality control, to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
6. Review and validate engineering designs, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and manufacturability standards.
7. Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the engineering team.
8. Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing and design challenges in a timely manner.
9. Identify and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and increase product quality.
10. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations throughout engineering processes.
Key Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record in leading engineering projects.
3. Strong knowledge of plastic thermoforming processes and techniques, including mold design and material handling.
4. Proficient in G-code programming for CNC machines.
5. Expertise in 5-axis CNC programming and machine setting.
6. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
7. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
8. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
9. Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PowerMill) and CAM software for CNC programming.
10. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desired Experience:
1. Experience in designing and manufacturing complex parts for high-precision applications.
2. Familiarity with additional manufacturing techniques such as Vacuum Thermoforming, injection molding, pressure forming, additive manufacturing, or metalworking.
3. Knowledge of quality control systems, including statistical process control (SPC).
4. Experience with ERP systems and project management tools.
