Job Title: Solar Technician
Location: Dehradun
Reports to: Solar Installation Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Solar Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in solar systems, with a diploma or vocational training in a related field. The Solar Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing solar power systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and in compliance with safety standards. This is a hands-on role that requires practical knowledge of electrical and solar energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solar System Installation:
Install solar panels, mounting systems, inverters, and related components at customer sites.
Ensure all components are securely installed and properly aligned for optimal performance.
Perform electrical wiring for solar systems, ensuring all connections are correctly made.
2. System Maintenance & Repairs:
Conduct routine inspections of solar panels, wiring, and inverters.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to solar energy systems, such as poor performance, faulty wiring, or damaged components.
Perform repairs and replacements of damaged parts as needed.
3. System Testing & Quality Control:
Test solar energy systems to confirm correct operation and energy output.
Adjust and optimize settings to maximize system efficiency.
Document all installations, inspections, and repairs performed.
4. Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure safe working conditions.
Adhere to electrical and building codes for solar installations.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all job sites.
5. Customer Interaction:
Communicate with customers regarding system operation and provide any necessary training.
Address customer inquiries and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
6. Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Assist in managing inventory and ordering materials as necessary for installation or repair projects.
Qualifications:
1. Education & Experience:
Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (or equivalent technical training).
Prior experience as a Solar Technician or in the installation and maintenance of electrical or solar systems is preferred but not required.
2. Skills & Abilities:
Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and solar panel technology.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot solar energy equipment and components.
Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor conditions.
Good physical fitness to handle installation tasks, including lifting heavy materials.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Good communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
3. Certifications:
NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification is a plus but not required.
OSHA safety certification or willingness to obtain.
Any relevant certification in solar installation or electrical work is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
1. Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday with occasional overtime or weekend work as required by project deadlines.
2. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in varying weather conditions, and climb ladders and rooftops.
3. Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
