Data Protection Officer (DPO)South DublinPermanentHybrid - 2 days onsite per weekWe are seeking a skilled and proactive Data Protection and Privacy Manager to lead and oversee our Data Protection and Privacy Program across multiple entities for mostly Ireland but also the UK. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, mitigating risks, and fostering a strong privacy culture within the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping a leading multinational software firm's approach to data protection and privacy compliance while working alongside diverse teams across HR, Marketing, Sales, Development, and more.Must be a strong leader able to drive change and influence the board and senior stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Data Protection and Privacy Program in collaboration with external privacy partners.Identify and assess privacy risks across business units, maintain a central risk register, and drive mitigation plans in line with agreed policies.Act as the main point of contact for data protection queries, including Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), privacy risk reviews, DPIAs, vendor assessments, and records of processing activities.Advise internal teams on data protection issues, ensuring compliance with regulations such as GDPR.Establish processes to respond to individuals exercising their data rights (e.g., access requests, right to be forgotten).Promote a culture of data protection through training programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns.Review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and provide guidance on new projects, products, and processes.Collaborate with the Legal Department on reviewing contracts related to data sharing and processing.Work closely with Information Security teams to ensure robust security measures for personal data.Monitor compliance with internal policies and stay updated on changes in data protection laws in the UK and Ireland.Report regularly on risks, mitigations, operational KPIs (e.g., data breaches), and program progress to senior leadership.The ideal candidate will have:5 years of experience in data protection and privacy roles.Strong knowledge of GDPR and other data protection laws.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.Familiarity with privacy risk assessments, certifications, and information security standards.Leadership skills with experience in project management.Seniority level: Mid-Senior levelEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Information TechnologyIndustries: Technology, Information and Media
