Job Description:
Grade VIII - Quality, Risk and Patient Safety Manager
* Lead, advise and manage the development and implementation of Quality, Risk and Patient Safety structures and processes in the Hospital.
* Coordinate the Quality and Patient Safety Agenda and be accountable for the organisational achievement of conformance and performance with internal and external compliance requirements.
* Drive core programmes of work in quality, safety and risk management, including: implementation of the HSE's Patient Safety Strategy 2019 – 2024, clinical effectiveness, clinical audit, service user involvement; risk management, complaints, incidents/serious incidents, patient safety and service improvement.
Purpose of the Post:
To manage and coordinate the review and continual appraisal of the corporate risk register for Naas General Hospital, including the co-ordination and oversight of the NGH local risk register.
Main Responsibilities:
* Ensure regulatory compliance and address any gaps/potential gaps in service provision identified by regulators/legislative bodies.
* Lead and champion all issues relating to patient safety, patient experience and incident reporting/follow up with a clear design/strategy in place to quality assure and quality improve.
* Participate as a member of the Senior Hospital Management Team at NGH and contribute to the operational management of the Hospital.
* Promote best evidence incident and risk management practices that foster a fair, open and learning culture.
* Support the General Manager, Operations Manager, Director of Nursing, Clinical Directors, Consultants, Nurse Managers and Department Heads in establishing a proactive Quality & Patient Safety culture, focusing on patient safety within clinical directorates and departments.
* Be responsible for the staffing resource within the Quality & Patient Safety function.
Eligibility Criteria:
* Candidates must have at the latest date of application: 1. An academic award in Risk Management or Quality in Healthcare at level 6 (or higher) on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework or equivalent, OR a professional qualification in a health-related area.
* Significant experience of working in the health services in a post that has involved risk management, incident management and investigations as relevant to this role.
* Experience of leading change in a complex organisation.
* Experience of delivering training programmes.
* Experience of managing and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
* Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
