Purpose of the Role
The Community Respite Officer will be involved in the development and implementation of social groups and alternative respite for individuals supported by our services. The successful candidate will take a lead in the day-to-day coordination of this service.
Key Duties
* Develop planned respite breaks as a service, including alternative and social groups.
* Provide professional record keeping, reports, and updates in line with policy.
* Link with families regularly as part of the overall support and work in partnership with the Respite and Community Support Services Manager and relevant staff to identify service needs, coordinate existing service provision, and plan for the future.
* Work with the Respite Manager in planning and scheduling all forms of alternative respite provision to ensure a quality, streamlined service.
* Collaborate with the Short Breaks Respite Prioritisation Group to prioritize all respite applications and identify individuals needing prioritization for alternative respite.
* Support the development of alternative respite in conjunction with the Respite and Community Support Manager.
* Maintain the Alternative Respite Database.
* Keep a record of respite provision on a monthly basis and maintain KPI (Key Performance Indicator) records, liaising with the HSE as necessary.
* Demonstrate reliability and a flexible approach, which are essential for this position.
* Adhere to Ability West's policies at all times.
Minimum Requirements
* Candidates should have a degree relevant to the health and social care sector.
* Full driving license, as driving is essential for this post.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
