We have an opportunity for a Fund Services Supervisor, to join the Fund Services team at Mediolanum on a 9 Month Fixed Term Contract.
Role Profile: The role involves providing support and experience to a team responsible for carrying out an interesting mix of control-oriented activities, implementing fund changes, validating regulatory reporting, board reporting, distributor reporting, service provider oversight, assessing fund distributions, invoice management, relationship management, and leading or contributing to numerous projects. The position requires an individual who can demonstrate an understanding of Fund Administration, Custody, and Regulatory reporting. The role contains both routine tasks and the requirement for the individual to deal with ad-hoc issues as they arise, while ensuring alignment of internal deadlines against the delivery times of the outsourced service providers.
This role would suit a person who can manage time well, engage across departments, and maintain good working relationships, displaying a strong knowledge of Fund Structures, Fund and Management Company regulatory reporting, along with good knowledge of Fund Accounting, Custody, and Transfer Agency activities.
Duties:
1. Oversight and Control: Collaborate with the Fund Services Manager in the day-to-day oversight of operational interactions between Management Company, Distributors, Investment Managers, Administrators, Custodians, etc.; perform oversight NAV controls and review and challenge certain data provided by the third-party administrators, monitor the expiring and renewal of all relevant third-party agreements belonging to the funds. The successful candidate will also actively participate or manage the quarterly review of the service providers, escalate service issues and errors to senior management, and actively work to resolve incidents as they occur, ensuring they are properly recorded in Operational Risk systems.
2. Change & Project Management: Assist the Fund Services Manager during service calls with the Administrators and Custodians to document progress on multiple projects of different nature. Actively manage the Administrators and Custodians through the onboarding of new Investment Managers, Fund Launches, Mergers, Restructures, etc. Ensure all market documentation is in place to open Custody/Cash accounts in different countries, ensuring standing instructions are in place, manager connectivity is established and tested, etc. Support more strategic company projects such as systems or service provider migrations, data reengineering projects, etc.
3. Reporting: Periodic preparation of Operations Board documents and ability to analyse and process the relevant information provided by the administrators to form the presentation to the Board of Directors. Preparation, contribution, or review of certain regulatory and other reporting including AIFMD, EMT, PRIIPS KID, COVIP, Italian Whitelist. Coordinating and reviewing the annual audited and interim Funds financial statements. Controlling and validating other crucial Administrator reporting such as the Fund Class “ongoing charges” calculations and Funds Class “available for distribution” calculations.
4. Management of Relationships: The candidate will be a point of contact for third-party administrators, custodians, auditors, distributors, and the other Mediolanum Teams. The successful candidate may also be required to assist in collating certain information or data required by other departments, for example, client holdings, investments, and disinvestments across MIFL funds.
Skills & Competencies:
1. Good experience in the funds industry in a similar role or within a Fund Accountant/Administrator/Custodian or analytical role.
2. Excellent MS Office skills especially in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. PowerBI or SQL experience is an advantage.
3. Data - Strong understanding of data and its use as an asset to the business. Use of RPA, AI, Machine Learning, and Analytics would be desirable.
4. The ideal candidate can perform very analytical tasks, has an acute attention to detail, and is focused on resolving issues quickly. The successful candidate is self-motivated and is expected to develop strong business relationships both internally and externally, have a good attitude to problem solving, and strong ethical values.
5. Industry Knowledge – Knowledge of financial instruments across all asset classes, valuations, custody, and transfer agency processes. Central Bank regulations across both Ireland and Luxembourg UCITS and AIFs. Strong knowledge of Mutual Funds structures, Fund of Hedge Funds, and other Fund structures.
6. Proactivity and ability to prioritise tasks - The candidate must show flexibility, the ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, and the skill to adhere to tight deadlines.
7. Excellent numeric and communication skills both verbal and written.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience within the Funds Industry ideally as a Fund Accountant/Administrator.
2. People Management experience is an advantage.
3. Appropriate 3rd Level Qualification.
