Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is ranked AA class university in China. The current 3+1 collaboration with NUIST is one of the oldest Sino-Irish academic partner collaborations in China. NUIST is proud of this partnership and has chosen SETU as their partner for the establishment of a Joint Institute, called the NUIST Waterford Institute.
The NUIST Waterford Institute offers 5 dual undergraduate programmes including BSc (Hons) Applied Computing, Software Engineering, Internet of Things, BEng (Hons) Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering. Each programme has an intake of 36 students annually. The NUIST Waterford Institute also offers a dual postgraduate programme, MEng Information Engineering, with an annual intake of 30 students.
The Vice Dean will collaborate with the SETU Management Team and the Dean of the NUIST Waterford Institute and will be SETU’s representative at NUIST. The Vice Dean will spend at least 6 months of the year in China (Nanjing), and the remaining time at SETU Waterford Campus in Ireland. At SETU, the Vice Dean will report to the Head of Department of Computing and Mathematics, and the Joint Management Committee (JMC). The Vice Dean will work with the Dean of the NUIST Waterford Institute to jointly perform the relevant functions and obligations stipulated in the Articles of Association and Agreement of the Institute, ensuring the smooth operation and development of the Institute. The Vice Dean will serve a term of four years and can be reappointed with the approval of the Joint Management Committee (JMC).
