Data Analyst Contractor – Cybersecurity
Location: Galway Hybrid
Duration: 12 month contract
Daily Rate: €300 - €350
The Role
A leading organization is seeking a Data Analyst to join its Cybersecurity division within the Infrastructure and Application Security space. This role is ideal for someone passionate about data analysis, requirements gathering, delivering value to customers, and agile product delivery. The Data Analyst will collaborate closely with the team lead, engineers, and architects to translate business objectives into actionable insights within the Application & Infrastructure security domain.
The Team
The Cybersecurity division is responsible for safeguarding the organization’s infrastructure, data, and systems from external and internal threats. As a member of the Infrastructure and Application Security team, you will contribute to best-in-class analytical solutions. In this role, you will work alongside analysts, engineers, and architects within the Infrastructure Security Engineering group, supporting initiatives focused on identifying, assessing, and mitigating vulnerabilities, malware, and configuration risks within applications and infrastructure.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience required.
* 8+ years of experience as a data analyst, including research, requirements definition, gap analysis, data mining, and profiling.
* Strong background in data analytics, data warehousing, and data visualization.
* Proven experience in developing dashboards using Tableau and/or Power BI.
* Proficiency with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, and Alteryx for data management and visualization.
* Deep understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional, relational, unstructured) and the ability to build conceptual, logical, and physical data models (3NF) in relational database environments.
* Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into effective data models, ensuring data quality, performance, and scalability.
* Experience with data governance and data quality initiatives.
* Strong understanding of data lineage, with the ability to document data flows from source to target and develop data flow diagrams.
* Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation, querying, and profiling across cloud and on-premise databases, preferably Snowflake and Oracle.
* Experience with Snowflake procedures, PL/SQL, SQL, Unix shell scripting, and Python.
* Familiarity with database platforms such as Oracle, Snowflake, and Microsoft SQL Server.
* Hands-on experience with ETL technologies and building data pipelines.
* Exposure to ETL tools such as Informatica or SnapLogic is a plus.
* Ability to collaborate with data architects, engineers, and business analysts to align with the overall data strategy.
* Strong communication skills to convey complex data modeling concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience working in Agile environments (Kanban and/or Scrum).
* Previous experience in Cybersecurity or Risk industries is preferred.
* Ability to independently analyze and interpret data, engaging with stakeholders to uncover business insights.
* Self-motivated, with the ability to seek guidance when necessary.
Preferred Certifications
* AWS Certifications are a plus.
