We are seeking a Senior Formulation Chemist to join our team at Biocel, one of Ireland's leading chemical manufacturers. In this role, you will conduct work in our development laboratory servicing the agri-food and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and formulate stable and efficient products that meet desired specifications and cost objectives, collaborating with QC and production teams as necessary.
* Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis using laboratory analytical techniques.
* Create new product formulations to support customers, ensuring compliance with industry and ISO standards.
* Establish formula specifications, conduct stability studies, and implement new testing methods.
* Continuously improve existing formulations through research, testing, recording, and reporting.
* Pursue the development of the laboratory and its capabilities.
* Be involved in the full lifecycle of product development, from research and development to customer on-site trials.
* Maintain adherence to our central Lab Quality Management system and ensure compliance with ISO quality standards.
* Take a proactive approach to assisting in the development of laboratory procedures and SOPs for external audits and third-party customer audits.
* Participate in driving the initiative to develop a new R&D database.
* Conduct exploratory research to gain knowledge for potential new products.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in chemistry or a related field.
* Experience in R&D/formulation science in chemicals, drinks or similar industries.
* Competency in formulation development techniques and result interpretation.
* Hands-on experience working in an ISO accredited laboratory.
* Able to work onsite full-time.
* Excellent partnership and interpersonal skills to interact across teams and levels within the organization and with clients.
* Experience in supporting production processes is beneficial.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
* Experience in project management, troubleshooting, and continuous process verification.
