Network Engineer
Hybrid Contract (6 months) with our client based in Dublin
Your Role:
A Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the core network and telephony infrastructure. Their goal is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure in order to provide maximum performance for users, such as staff, clients, customers, and suppliers. Responsibilities also include supporting networking components, interfacing with other Enterprise teams, supporting PC/Server, Voice & Security infrastructure. The Network Engineer will work internally as part of our clients IT support team and will liaise with a number of external vendors who provide products and services to our client.
Your Team:
The Networks & Telephony area provide IT support to our clients business across a wide range of functions including maintenance of existing systems and IT infrastructure, enhancements to existing solutions, Release & Change Management, Configuration Management, day-to-day operations, IT disaster recovery, Security management, Supplier management, IT standards compliance and quality assurance, Project technical design, Governance and Project Initiation including RFP content. The successful candidate will report directly to the Network and Telephony manager.
Your Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support of the Network, Telephony and Contact centre infrastructure
* Understand and respond to Network and telephony monitoring / alerting tools and troubleshoot where required and update the customer accordingly
* Work to maintain and improve our service quality and standards
* Manage customers IT related issues in a professional helpful manner through to resolution
* Support network activities outside of normal working hours where required (Participation in an On Call-Rota when required)
* Establish good working relationships with the business, other teams within IT, Group IT, IT Services and 3rd party vendors and service providers
* Own project associated tasks and ensure these are delivered as per agreed schedules, quality and cost
* Participate in innovation and continuous improvement, focusing on quality, cost reduction and process development
* Support the team in implementing changes in processes and systems to deliver productivity and service improvements
* Support the Business Continuity / Disaster recover agenda for the group
* Understand IT Security and Risk & Compliance policies that protect information and technology assets
* Familiarity of automation tools for monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network incidents, schedule upgrades and collaborate with network architects on network optimisation
* Provide remote support for on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation and provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation
* Liaise with project management team, third line engineers and Service Desk engineers on a regular basis and update the incident management call queue
* Regularly attending Change Control meeting on behalf of the team and also daily Service Control meetings
* Support the development and implementation of the technology roadmap for each of the in-scope technologies
* Drive the simplification of the managed environment seeking to minimise complexity while maintaining industry leading solutions and configurations
Risk Management & Control
* Ensure a firm understanding of the risk landscape across the in-scope processes
* Maintain the in-scope control environment ensuring the controls are fit for purpose, aligned to internal standards and regulatory requirements and seek to enhance and automate where possible
* Drive a consistent approach to Risk Management engendering a culture of openness and continual improvement
* Proactively seek to minimize audit findings by implementing effective and permanent solutions while considering the wider implications of any findings
* Support the successful remediation of the findings from the current or any future external reviews
Essential Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent experience in Telecommunications, Information Systems or IT discipline
* Three years of proven experience in a Technical Infrastructure design and implementation within a medium to large organization
* An understanding of Cisco Nexus & Catalyst equipment & experience in VXLAN & other routing protocols including authentication products and methodologies
Desired:
* Understanding of Cisco ISE, particularly its Network Access control & WIFI management capabilities
* Knowledge of virtualised environments and associated components and architectures
* Experience with WLAN security protocols and tools
* Experience in telephony /agent desktop systems – Avaya, Verint, Genesis
