Regional Executive - Construction expertise
Our client, based in Co. Cork, supports industry directly with information and expert advice on a range of construction specific issues are seeking to recruit an experienced and ambitious Regional Executive to join their expanding team.
The Role:
This role is primarily based in the Southern Region office, Cork. This role will require someone with strong organisational capabilities and with a strong commitment to serving the needs of members.
The ideal candidate will be an articulate, well-informed with strong insights in the construction sector and an effective advocate of the business and its members.
Attendance at meetings and events outside of Cork is an essential element of the role. The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Southern Region and will work as part of a small team providing professional advice and support to member organisations.
The candidate will be supported by experts in the business and the Director.
Key Responsibilities to include:
·Assisting individual members with issues and providing advice on Procurement, Tendering and Contractual Matters, Health & Safety, Industrial Relations/Human Resources, Planning and Development and Environmental, Sustainability and Governance
·Preparing submissions and reports to County Development Plans, Capital Works Programmes (e.g. Uisce Eireann, ESB, National Development Plan) and Development Contribution Schemes/Taking in Charge policies
·Organising and attending Branch Meetings, Breakfast Briefings, Networking Dinners, and Conferences in the region
·Managing the branch’s bank accounts, including payments in and out and preparing annual statements on same
·Representing the bodies interests in the Region ensuring that its views and contributions are recognised and understood nationally and locally with the various stakeholders (Local Authorities, Local TD’s, Educational Institutions, Chambers of Commerce)
·Ensuring the Southern Region is represented on relevant Committees e.g. the National Subcommittees, Local Authorities Strategic Policy Committees and Regional Skill Forums
·Liaising closely with members and Branch committees providing leadership and direction within the Southern region
·Identifying problems and issues confronting members and defining policy and responses to address them
·Planning and coordinating with colleagues in the Membership department in the development and growth of the membership numbers and strengthening existing relationships
·Providing assistance to the Director across a range of policy and committee areas as required.
Skills and experience that we need:
·Candidates would ideally have a relevant degree in a related discipline with strengths in representation, negotiation and administration
·Experience in the construction industry or related sector would be a considerable advantage
·Familiarity with the range of current construction issues and the needs of construction companies
·Candidates must have a good understanding of the role of a representative organisation serving the needs of businesses, strongly committed to serving the needs of members and member Associations
·Ability to work on own initiative and be energetic, self-directed, and able to plan appropriately
·Be an accomplished communicator with strong verbal and writing skills
·Excellent organisational capabilities and a strong commitment to serving the needs of members
·Candidates must have the ability to build effective relationships with members, industry professionals and public authorities
·Candidates must have the ability to work as part of a high-performing team while having the initiative to work and deliver independently and to manage and prioritise a considerable workload
·Candidates must have a full clean drivers licence and ideally their own car, or regular access to a car.
