QC Lab Analyst
My client are an international dairy, flavours and nutritional ingredients company headquartered in Co. Cork. The group operates across 12 global locations with over 1000 employees.
Location : Full Time onsite - County Cork
Duration : 2 year Fixed Term Contract
Hours : 40-48 hours including working a weekend roster
Key Responsibilities
1. Chemical analysis of raw materials, environment, water, in-process, and final product samples in assigned areas. This may include Antibiotic testing for milk suppliers and milk intake, compiling results and reporting / issuing results to milk suppliers, various microbiological tasks that may be assigned (plating / assays), and scheduling unplanned work (individual supplier samples).
2. Report daily analysis results and investigate deviations or out of specification results, ensuring correct analysis interpretation, and reporting for further assessment by Manager if required.
3. Compile results, trends, and investigations and report to management personnel on a periodic basis.
4. Take ownership for asset care and maintenance of laboratory equipment - operation, service, & calibration of instrumentation in the laboratory and at-line, including external / third party
5. certification. This may include daily operation, calibration, and maintenance of the laboratory equipment for the purpose of analysing supplier milk samples and milk intake samples.
6. Participate in internal and external proficiency schemes. Maintain records for regulatory requirements.
7. Participate in and maintain laboratory accreditation relevant to assigned duties.
8. Demonstrate basic housekeeping skills, order and maintain stock levels of consumables within the laboratory and store areas.
9. Perform non-routine activities and project / development work which may be assigned as required (example: method development, instrumentation setup and validation).
10. Support Product Allocation and Release including Sensory / Shelf-life evaluation of final products.
11. Continue improving proficiency in analyses and ensuring analyses are conducted on time, and ensure throughput is maintained at maximum in areas of responsibility.
12. Participate in 5S-Lean, H&S, and improvement projects.
Key Requirements / Qualifications
13. Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Science, or related science discipline.
14. Flexibility in relation to working hours, shift patterns and weekend / overtime requirements. 40-48 hours per week. 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Scheduled participation in the weekend work rotation.
15. 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing environment
16. Knowledge or aptitude for calibration & validation is advantageous.
17. Motivated, takes the initiative, and willingness to develop new skills.
18. Knowledge & experience of aspects of HPLC, GC, FT-NIR and ICP / AAS is desirable.
19. Knowledge of Organic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry is desirable.
20. Computer skills are essential.
