We are seeking to recruit an excellent academic to join our staff as Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Global Cultures and Futures, focused on the application of theory and ethnographic methods to address contemporary and near-future challenges facing local and global cultures. This might range from designing sustainable systems (e.g., health, food, and housing) to cultural adaptations to the climate emergency, or imagining energy, mobility, or sociotechnical futures. The ideal candidate will bring ethnographic research experience to understanding the uncertainties and nuances of complex organisations, ecosystems, and/or infrastructures. An interest in innovative and hybrid methodologies and the role of human-centred research in multidisciplinary teams and environments is important for this position. The Department of Anthropology is particularly interested in enlisting candidates with a specialism in the interactions between emerging and developed economies. The person appointed will have a proven record of research excellence appropriate to career stage and will be able to demonstrate teaching excellence.
Assistant Professor / Lecturer (2024) Salary scale: €62,855 – €99,533 p.a. (7 points)
Assistant Lecturer (2024) Salary scale: €40,682 - €69,887 p.a. (14 points)
Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
