Our client is a leading global provider of consulting and engineering services.
A Project Cost Manager is required for a major public lighting renewal contract to be based in Kilkenny for a 2-year contract.
The project will be using the NEC4 conditions of contract.
The successful candidate shall be site-based and shall report to the NEC Project Manager.
The Project Cost Manager shall support the NEC Project Manager by providing all necessary commercial support and advice.
Responsibilities:
1. The assessment and verification of the Contractor’s Defined Cost, both forecast and incurred for the purposes of payment and monitoring against the target Price.
2. Carry out regular audits of the Contractor’s accounts and records.
3. Advise the NEC Project Manager, Consultant(s), and Client on the status of the likely ‘pain/gain’ share.
4. Provide full-time site attendance for all contract stages.
5. Review and assess all compensation event quotations submitted by the Contractor.
6. Attend early warning meetings and advise on likely cost implications.
7. Input into the production of the Risk Register when requested.
8. Budget monitoring and reporting.
9. Measuring, monitoring, and forecasting cost status and performance.
10. Critically review and interrogate cost reports.
11. Effectively communicate costs, reporting, and findings.
12. Liaison with internal stakeholders and maintaining collaborative relationships.
13. Provision of specific assistance to Project Managers.
14. Analysis of project cost and budget data for trending.
Requirements:
1. Relevant degree / higher diploma / qualification in quantity surveying / cost management, engineering, finance, or a related discipline.
2. 10+ years’ experience in general cost management and cost control.
3. Satisfactory experience as a cost manager during stages (iv) to (v) of a civil engineering/construction project with a capital value of at least €10m.
4. Previous NEC experience is an advantage.
5. Proven knowledge of cost management principles.
6. Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel & MS PowerPoint.
7. User of MS Power Bi is advantageous.
8. Experience in databases and ERP systems is advantageous.
9. Knowledge of scheduling software is desirable.
10. Strong knowledge in total cost management and cost control concepts.
11. Demonstrated understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
12. Strong technical experience in cost management of projects.
13. Experience in the management and administration of civil engineering contracts.
14. Demonstrated knowledge of working with accredited Integrated Management Systems & Standards.
15. Strong analytical skills.
16. Strong planning and organisational skills.
17. Ability to set up ongoing procedures for information collection.
18. Proven track record in dealing with complex cost management issues.
19. Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
Package:
2-year fixed term on contract hourly rates negotiable based on experience.
