Applications are invited for a temporary part-time post of a Research Engineer within UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering.
The successful candidate will work to ensure the smooth implementation of the tasks listed below.
In support of a number of digital agriculture research initiatives being conducted within the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering that include BiOrbic Phase 2 Digitisting the Bioeconomy Challenge and targeted National and EU digital Ag funding calls, the individual will be required to: Identify and assess off-the shelf and R&D based sensor technologies to collect real time sensor data pertaining to agri feedstock supply chains, fertiliser storage and application, AD and soil fertility.
Propose sensor solutions, collecting data and process it, to provide a high level outline of an LCA inventory and LCA model to conduct an environmental impact assessment of key agri -feedstock supply chain, process steps.
Contribute to National and EU research funding call applications.
This post will have a specific focus on interacting with key stakeholders that include farmers, AD operators, sensor technology producers, distributors and developers at all stages of the project which is needed to best understand how sensor implementation and data collection can be best integrated with agri-feestocks production models.
Fixed Salary: €55,000 Per Annum Pro Rata (i.e.
€28,204 Per Annum Pro Rata @ 20hrs Per Week) Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on the 15th of April 2025.
