We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Special Seating Clinician to join our team in Sandymount.
Contract Type: 12-month full-time contract.
Annual Leave Entitlement: 33 days.
Overview of the Post:
SeatTech is a leading national provider of special seating solutions to wheelchair users with complex needs. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary clinical, engineering, and technical team to provide a user-focused service.
The primary function of this role is to work in partnership with SeatTech colleagues in the delivery of a clinical seating service that involves wheelchair and special seating assessments, equipment selection, prescription, and provision. The Special Seating Clinician provides special seating expertise, informed by a rich understanding of clinical need.
Overview of Duties & Responsibilities:
Service Delivery:
The Special Seating Clinician independently carries a clinical caseload, which involves:
1. Delivery of a quality clinical service related to assessment, prescription, delivery, handover, and review of posture positioning and related mobility equipment.
2. Working in partnership with colleagues and service users, considering the service user’s ability, needs, and preferences.
3. Communicating effectively with colleagues, service users, relatives, carers, and other professionals.
4. Being accountable for documentation of service user intervention according to professional norms and SeatTech requirements.
5. Delivering clinical services in assigned locations, including off-site service delivery, which may entail travel and overnight stays.
Service Development:
The Special Seating Clinician plays a pivotal role in the development of the service as a whole, contributing to the formation of a strategy for sustainability. Current service development priorities include:
1. Supporting the review and promotion of the SeatTech suite of seating assessment training courses.
2. Establishing collaborative research partnerships with educational institutions.
3. Transitioning to digital technologies.
The successful candidate will have:
Clinical Specialist Essential Criteria:
1. Hold an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy qualification recognized by the Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
2. Be registered on the Occupational Therapists/Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
3. Have five years' full-time post-qualification clinical experience, with four years recent and consecutive working as a senior Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist / Clinical Engineer in special seating.
4. An honours degree (NFQ Level 8 or higher) in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Prosthetics & Orthotics, or Biomedical/Clinical Engineering.
5. Training in anatomy & physiology.
6. Understanding of postural management & seating assessment principles.
7. Three years’ experience in a biomechanical environment, working with bespoke custom postural corrective devices.
8. Significant independent experience assessing, prescribing, and fitting postural corrective devices.
9. Postgraduate research experience.
10. Knowledge of the European Medical Devices Regulations.
11. Experience delivering and assessing CPD training courses and/or seminars.
12. Ability to undertake critical analysis and evaluation.
