Health and Safety Specialist
A medical device engineering company in Sligo is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join their team on a part-time, permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities:
* Liaise with staff to ensure compliance with current health and safety statutory requirements and company procedures.
* Manage health and safety documentation, including training records, machinery certification, and other statutory health and safety records.
* Deliver continual improvement on current safety practices.
* Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health and safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including sub-contractors where appropriate).
* Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that corrective actions are dealt with immediately.
* Investigate, record, and report accidents, incidents, and near-misses promptly, ensuring any corrective actions are implemented without delay.
* Manage and make recommendations for personal protective equipment required for all employees.
* Conduct biannual site evacuation drills and complete risk assessments on equipment.
Requirements:
* Hold a relevant health and safety qualification/degree.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, and best practice.
* Previous experience in a health and safety role in the manufacturing industry.
