Role Profile
The School is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Physical Education on a permanent basis. The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development across the School of Health and Human Performance, particularly on the BSc programmes in Physical Education with Biology, Physical Education with Mathematics, and Sports Science and Health. Responsibilities include delivery of theoretical and practical modular content, student mentoring and support, school placement supervision, supervision of student projects, pursuing research interests relevant to the School, collaborating on existing and future programmes, and contributing to administrative activities.
We especially welcome applications from candidates with a strong research profile, post-primary school physical education teaching experience, and expertise in specialist motor control, motor development, and/or skill acquisition. Experience in university teaching and administration is also valued. Candidates should align their research and teaching with the existing strengths and needs of the School, particularly in Athletics and Outdoor/Adventure Activities.
The post is based on the Glasnevin Campus of Dublin City University, and the appointee will report directly to the Head of School.

The postholder will be required to undertake essential compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety, Data Protection (GDPR), and all Cyber Security Awareness Training. Additional training may be required as needed.
Salary Scale:
Refer to DCU Payscales for the applicable payscale.
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.

Remote Working Policy
From the 1st of November 2024, DCU will operate its newly agreed Remote Working Policy. Employees may be approved for up to 2 days of remote working per week (or an appropriate pro rata amount for those part-time). Any remote working arrangement will reflect the predominant on-campus working environment and the core University value of 'Student Focused'. Employees will be based on campus for the majority of their working week to ensure sustained on-campus engagement and experience.
