O’Donohues Bakery is a fourth-generation family run business based in Tullamore Co. Offaly. We supply ambient and frozen yeast and soda breads from our Grade AA BRC certified site to the retail and foodservice sectors on a local and national level with export markets including the UK and Germany.

Quality Manager Role
This person will have a proven track record in people management and will be site champion for all aspects of quality from maintaining raw material and product specifications, carrying out hygiene and food safety requirements standards and managing any customer complaints.
In line with the company’s values, the role calls for transformational leadership in a growing environment to deliver direction on quality strategies and shaping, constructing, and evaluating the Quality processes across the business.
The successful candidate will have strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and coordination skills.

Duties:
* Through maintaining good relationships, drive a positive and ethical Food Safety and Quality culture, manage the hygiene team, and monitor and guide all departments in ensuring compliance of the highest standards are continuously being met.
* HACCP team lead, managing all matters of food safety and quality on site, including supporting the development and HACCP approval of new products and processes.
* Design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the HACCP based Quality management system.
* Implement and maintain the Quality Management system to ensure product safety, legality, and quality of all products to specification.
* Implement and maintain the internal auditing schedule, ensuring continuous improvement and timely close off of non-conformances.
* Co-ordinating the Microbiological and Environmental Testing Schedule and sending the samples to an external laboratory.
* Retain BRC Grade AA Accreditation and maintain BRC Standards and lead BRC, customer and third-party audits. (Bonus payment achievable)
* Create, review and update quality system manual and standard operating procedures in line with BRC standards.
* Investigate non-conformances internally and externally through root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventative action is implemented. Log and trend non-conformances.
* Create, manage, update and maintain raw material, finished product specifications and recipes.
* Support all departments in relation to food safety and quality.
* Monitor GMP Record keeping, Document Control and ensuring all procedures, process documentation is up to date in compliance with customer requirements.
* Manage internal communications and training programmes to ensure all departments are trained in the relevant food safety and quality procedures.
* Log and respond to customer complaints. Report the complaints to management and liaise with production to identify the root cause.
* Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly quality checks including hygiene and fabrication audits and glass and plastics audits.
* Ensure traceability is being maintained throughout the production process.
* Complete daily, weekly reports log for COA results.
* Maintain and monitor ongoing supplier approval.
* Promote the development of a food safety culture.
* Maintain product labels to ensure they meet legislative requirements according to EU/FSAI regulations.
* Effective record keeping and document control.
* Check and sign off production check sheets. Verification and filling of all production and quality paperwork.
* Retain our Origin Green verification and update and lead our sustainability plan (Bonus payment achievable)
* Record and check all Food Safety Alerts from FSAI, EFSA & FSA Websites and take actions accordingly.
Qualifications/Experience
* Third level qualification in Agriculture science, food science, food technology or similar.
* 2+ years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the food industry.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages.
* Proven record of implementing and managing quality management systems and BRC standards.
* A proven record of effective leadership and ability to successfully develop and cultivate teams and systems.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Standard operating hours are 8.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday with a degree of flexibility where needs of the successful candidate reasonably meets the needs of the company. This role will require flexibility regarding working hours which may involve shift work or weekend work, depending on business needs.
