Position Description
We are recruiting Software Architects to help transform ESB to a digital utility. The successful candidates will work on innovative solutions to help solve ESB’s drive towards a low carbon utility.
Software Architecture is part of the IT Delivery organisation. In ESB, Software Architects are primarily involved in the selection and design of Software solutions to meet business requirements both now and into the future. Our Software Architects demonstrate a wide breadth of Utility Industry knowledge, IT architecture & Software capability by understanding the impact of change on the full enterprise landscape. They are responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and supportability of all changes, be that large projects, products, or smaller changes.
Software Architects have a broad remit and work closely with all ESB business units across the Utilities value chain on projects and products. This is an opportunity to develop both technical and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, or otherwise input to, software solutions to meet business requirements in compliance with overall Architectural principles, policies and standards.
* Support cloud, infrastructure, and security architects to design appropriate software solutions to meet non-functional requirements in compliance with overall enterprise principles, policies and standards.
* Participate in appropriate Design Authority Groups for Programmes / Projects.
* Provide oversight of design process and ensure overall integrity of the application through to delivery and operation.
* Develop Software Architecture Design Documents, Guidelines, Standards, Decision Paper & Presentation to appropriate forums.
* Highlight Key Business, Timeline & Technical Risks to Programme Management.
* Ensure solutions provide interoperability with other internal and external interfaces and applications.
* Support procurement evaluation process as appropriate.
* Contribute to Business, IT and Digital Strategies.
Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum of 6 years’ experience in IT, with an awareness of software architectural roles and responsibilities.
* Knowledge of Azure Cloud technologies and in particular PaaS services.
* Experience in Security engineering, securing Websites, products and implementing secure, robust code.
* The ability to follow architecture principles in designing software solutions.
* Experience working with Agile / SCRUM teams.
* Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations.
* Third level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
* IASA CITA-F qualification or similar is desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge of Utility Industry application landscape and the integration architecture between the various systems.
* An awareness of, Legal, Regulatory & Data Protection principles.
* Business Process Analysis experience.
* High Level knowledge of applications architecture, data architecture integration, infrastructure, cloud and security architecture.
* Knowledge of business continuity planning principles, information security and IT Security risk management.
* Demonstration of Continued Professional Development is essential.
* You must be a self-starter, be innovative in your approach and be able to demonstrate your ability to actively contribute to a team that delivers results.
* SAFe Certification.
* NET Core & Framework.
Location
This position is primarily located in ESB Head Office, F27, Dublin 2. On occasion travel will be required to both business sites and conferences (domestic and international).

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
Reporting To
The successful candidate will report to the Software Architecture Manager, Methods & Resources, IT Delivery.
