FND Ireland are seeking a non-executive director/trustee to join our board with corporate governance/legal experience.
About Us:
FND Ireland is the first Irish registered not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advocating for and supporting those living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) in Ireland. We are an entirely voluntary national organisation with a committed team that plans to grow into the future and extend our reach to the entire FND community in Ireland.
Our mission is to advocate for better awareness and clinical advancements, promote research, and provide support for those living with FND in Ireland. Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure that FND Ireland adheres to all legal and regulatory obligations, including charity and company law; and fulfils its reporting responsibilities.
2. Ensure that FND Ireland complies with the provisions of its Constitution.
3. Ensure best practice in standards of charity governance and organisational quality.
4. Provide recommendations to facilitate operational and board decision-making in respect of governance matters.
5. Ensure that risks are identified and monitored through effective risk management.
6. Ensure that organisation systems are transparent and accountable to stakeholders.
7. Provide guidance and input into governance/risk policies and procedures.
8. To be a member of or chair the finance, risk, audit, and governance committee.
9. Provide expertise on all matters relating to corporate governance and law.
General Responsibilities
1. Provide input into the strategic direction of FND Ireland including strategic assignments.
2. Monitor FND Ireland’s performance and ensure that its work is evaluated.
3. Act in the best interest of FND Ireland.
4. Act with reasonable care and skill.
5. Manage the assets of FND Ireland.
6. A commitment to the mission and vision of FND Ireland.
Skills and Experience
1. To be suitably qualified for the role and hold a relevant legal qualification with at least 3 years of experience in a legal/governance role.
2. Understanding of charity regulation and compliance.
3. Previous not-for-profit experience would be an advantage.
4. Experience in corporate governance and risk management.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to ensure decisions are taken and followed up.
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Time Commitment and Meetings
Typically, there will be twelve meetings in the year between board and committee meetings plus the AGM, with meetings being held online. You will need to be comfortable committing at least six hours per month in this role on a voluntary basis.
