Purpose of the Role:
This role is to support the buyers and supply chain buyers in the management of the day to day buying, operations and profitability of the category while managing inbound and outbound transportation of materials.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
* Purchasing of plants, and packaging to meet our orders and production needs.
* Negotiation of the best possible pricing from growers and suppliers.
* Develop sales forecasts for the planning and operations team daily.
* Liaise with operations department on the production plan, stock allocation and efficiency savings.
* Stock planning on a daily / weekly / monthly basis.
* Balance stock daily.
* Liaise with all stakeholders to organise and confirm inbound and outbound transportation of materials / product.
* Follow up with suppliers on claims within the category.
* Arrange consolidation of transport for inbound loads.
* Compare actual demand against forecast and procure to manage gaps.
* Review profitability of category and report into Commercial Manager & NAM's.
* Set up PO's and reduce invoice queries with accounts department.
* Deliver NPD / innovation.
* Issue requests and recommendations for lines we tender annually.
* Work with Commercial Manager, technical, and sales counterparts to deliver QSL & DSL.
* Negotiation of pricing, specifications, promotions with suppliers in conjunction with NAM's.
* Meet all deadlines / be heavily involved in successful event planning.
* Review production plans to manage our inbound inventory for JIT culture.
* Manage our inbound ocean freight and all coms and documentation associated with it.
* Raise and issue PO numbers from our own system.
* Code creation requests.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* Delivery service level.
* Quality service level.
* Category waste %.
* Claims successfully attained.
* Accuracy of PO's.
Key Skills & Knowledge:
* Previous buying experience within the horticulture is preferred, but if not, we are happy to teach and support you in the horticulture business.
* Ability to work on own initiative on project-based tasks.
* Attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills.
* Results orientated.
* Highly numerate and analytical with ability to interpret data.
* Ability to build relationships and deal with customers and suppliers in a courteous and professional manner.
* Flexible and resilient.
* Work 5 over 7 (Some weekends from time to time).
* Will be required to travel.
