Position Title: Commis Chef Department: The Grill Restaurant / Events & Banqueting Reports To: Head Chef / Chef de Partie Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens.
This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring chef to gain hands-on experience in a high-end, fast-paced kitchen, supporting both our Grill Restaurant and bespoke wedding events.
Key Responsibilities Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs.
Follow recipes and presentation standards to maintain quality and consistency.
Prepare mise-en-place for assigned section.
Maintain a clean and hygienic workstation in line with HACCP and Health & Safety regulations.
Minimize waste and contribute to efficient kitchen operations.
Assist in stock rotation, storage, and labeling of produce.
Support with kitchen deliveries and daily requisitions.
Attend culinary training and participate fully in any education programs or apprenticeships.
Maintain positive working relationships with team members and demonstrate a proactive attitude.
Step in to support the Chef de Partie as needed, including during service or in managing prep tasks.
Requirements Previous kitchen experience in a 4* or 5* hotel is desirable but not essential.
Passion for food and a willingness to learn.
Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and food safety standards.
Awareness of allergens and ability to follow allergen procedures.
Good communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written).
Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization.
Team player with a positive and professional attitude.
