As a result of this growth, we are hiring for a Mechanical Estimator - Data Centres.
* On our projects within the Data Centre Sector, we assume the role of Specialist Prefab M&E Contractor, meaning we have control of all elements of our build;
* Design.
* BIM Management & coordination.
* Manufacture of:
* Chilled Water Distribution Systems,
* LTHW Distribution Systems,
* Plantrooms,
* Electrical Distribution Modules,
* Delivery to projects across the continent.
* Site installation.
* Testing and handover to client.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Estimating Lead for Data centres you will be an essential part of the Commercial Team providing accurate costings for M&E projects. You will be joining a key team experiencing significant growth and traction in the marketplace.
Day-to-day estimating will include costing of a wide range of mechanical systems within the data centre sector, from bespoke plantrooms, risers, laterals & prefabricated solutions.
The candidate will be responsible for generating detailed costing sheets for turnkey data centre projects which will involve liaising with a wide range of suppliers to obtain accurate quotations for specialist equipment.
The candidate will also liaise with our contract managers, purchasing department & wider commercial department in order to generate a seamless link from initial design through to installation and completion for each project. An important link will also be assisting in completing detailed post job analysis to review where jobs have finished so that continuous improvement can be achieved.
Key Responsibilities
We have detailed below some of the key elements of this role,
* To carry out estimating of data centre M+E projects inclusive of modularisation of works.
* Produce detailed take-offs of major items of plant and cost accordingly.
* Complete mechanical take offs from schematics & 3-D designs and collate into material & labour costs.
* Produce detailed take-offs of mechanical modular frames associated with prefabrication works.
* Quantify & cost accordingly the required labour to complete the works being costed.
* Review of project & tender specifications to assist in bid/no bid decisions.
* Liaise with specialist contractors & suppliers and obtain & assess accurate costings for equipment supplier quotes & any specialist works as required.
* Attend & where necessary lead internal post award meetings with key commercial, design & contracts team who will deliver projects.
* To attend site meetings alongside design engineers & contracts managers as required both pre & post contract award.
* Ensure Alternative Heat are receiving cost competitive quotes from our supply chain.
* Evaluate and risk review tender opportunities to assess viability of client requests.
* Ability to learn, operate and manage estimating software package (Ensign) to ensure accurate costs are prepared for all new projects.
Criteria
* Background in a Mechanical, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering discipline or can demonstrate an equivalent level of experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical services estimating.
* Proven track record of estimating/cost engineering on Mechanical projects from initial budget enquiry; detailed design pricing; to full tender pricing.
* Strong understanding of mechanical schematics, layouts, specifications, schedules and mechanical distribution systems within the built environment.
* Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
* Excellent experience in completing detailed take-offs for piping projects.
* Good Microsoft Office skills – to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
* Ability to take ownership of their duties and a willingness to grow and learn within their team and the company.
