INIS Environmental Consultants Ltd, part of RSK Group, has a proven track record in the delivery of high-quality Ecology products, reinforced by the fact that we are commissioned by some of Ireland’s largest energy developers to complete the Ecology remits on their projects.
We are now hiring for an Assistant Ecologist to join the team from our Ennis location, hybrid and full time (37.5 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertaking a broad range of breeding and wintering bird surveys, including species-specific surveys (for waders, raptors, and waterfowl) as well as general surveys (including vantage point and transect surveys) according to Best Practice Guidance, within time scales outlined;
* Using data tablets as well as survey forms in the field to produce high-quality field notes on standardized survey forms, including detailed and accurate mapping of data;
* Thoroughly reviewing (including peer-review) data and mapping produced within the Inis Ecology Team;
* Assisting in non-ornithological surveying as required, to include bats, other mammals, invertebrates, plants, habitats, and other taxa and ecological groups;
* Drafting baseline ecological reports, including methodology and results with well-written text (in English) and data presented clearly using in-house formatting and styles;
* To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, you may be asked to perform additional tasks that may be reasonably expected within your level of capability;
* Collating and storing ecological data to specified guidelines to ensure safety of data;
* Promotion of RSK SHEQ expectations management and reporting.
Person Specification:
* Good team player, with the ability to work independently;
* Enthusiasm, energy, and drive to develop skills and deliver projects to the highest standard;
* Ability to organise and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment;
* A methodical and organised personality;
* Monitor workloads to meet delivery targets and keep within budgeted timelines;
* Happy to work outdoors and travel to survey sites;
* Organise, repair, and maintain equipment as required;
* Adhere to Health & Safety requirements and take responsibility for own safe working practices;
* Good understanding of ecology;
* Experience of using GIS mapping tools (such as QGIS or ArcGIS) would be advantageous;
* Full clean EU driver’s licence;
* Appropriate membership of CIEEM (dependent on grade, or to have eligibility if not currently held);
* A knowledge of the relevant legislation and policies.
