Vickerstock are working in partnership with a global leading automotive manufacturer/supplier based in Navan to assist them with the recruitment of an Electrical Design Engineer.
Our client work with some of the biggest and best-known automotive brands within the construction, quarry, truck, utilitarian and military sectors.
This is a new position due to continued expansion; you will be an integral member of the design team to assist with upcoming next generation electric & hybrid technology projects.
Your responsibilities as an Electrical Design Engineer
1. Projects will be spread across multiple areas of electrical engineering required to develop all aspects of vehicle suspension, driveline, and powertrain systems for conventional and hybrid-electric vehicles. The role will include training to master new skills specific to vehicle electrification and electrical systems.
2. On-site commissioning of electrical systems, prototype hybrid-electric axles and vehicles.
3. Determine vehicle propulsion and power distribution requirements and select appropriate components including inverters, motors, power converters, batteries and engines.
4. Design high and low-voltage circuits based on customer specifications using 3D or schematic modelling software.
5. Design wiring harnesses for conventional and hybrid axle and driveline systems.
6. Prepare specifications of electrical systems to ensure that the installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
7. Analyse vehicle performance in MATLAB, Simulink, Adams (or equivalent). Calibrate control systems and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
8. Develop CAN bus and hardware signalling protocols to communicate with other systems on vehicles.
9. Testing and validation of electrical and electronic hardware including axles, controllers, sensors, and actuators.
10. Provide integration support and assist customers with queries during vehicle development programmes.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, ideally you will have
11. A strong background in electrical and/or electronic engineering with an interest in electro-mechanical systems vehicle engineering.
12. Prior experience or education in MATLAB, Simulink, C or C++ along with an understanding of vehicle powertrains would be a distinct advantage.
13. A degree in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering (or significant directly relevant experience) is required.
14. Prior experience or education in electrical power systems, power electronics, electric machines, programming, embedded systems and controls.
15. Is allowed to work in Ireland.
