CONSTRUCTION MANAGER is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Pharmaceutical client based in Co. Tipperary. This role requires the person to be full-time onsite for the majority of the time. An initial 12-month contract is on offer. The CONSTRUCTION MANAGER will have significant experience at a senior level within a > €100MM Project along with knowledge of bio-pharma Cleanroom/HVAC/E&I, equipment, and utilities systems.
Role of this position:
1. Ensure there is a strong safety culture and performance in the field execution of project deliverables, and that appropriate stage gate controls are in place for all works, coaching project team regarding safety, and being involved in any investigations (near miss etc).
2. Work closely with CM from EPCM to develop a high-performing construction team.
3. Attend field walk-downs as client CM Representative to ensure that appropriate standards are being met with installations.
4. Drive initiatives such as Quality Audit Metrics, Right First Time, and Modular Construction approach.
5. Complete early walk-downs on systems and work with the overall construction team to resolve punch lists based on priorities.
6. Drive systems to ensure efficient decision-making within the CMT and Client Team.
7. Act as an interface with Ballydine site stakeholders to address and resolve any issues in the interfaces with site and external stakeholders.
8. Attend and provide inputs to Interactive Pull Planning Workshops with appointed contractors and other stakeholders to plan out construction and energisation activities in a schedule-critical project, identifying constraints and working to remove barriers.
9. Ensure that Lean Construction Tools and Methodologies are implemented in the field (Last Planner & Pull Plan Scheduling, Target Value Design and Construction, Integrated Project Safety Team Structure, Right First Time approach).
10. Experience with Takt Time Planning for Construction/Commissioning would be advantageous.
11. Ensure EPCM has an appropriate stage gate approach in place to ensure rigor in allowing systems to pass from Testing to Construction Completion to Energisation to Commissioning.
12. Ensure Project Quality Standards are implemented and documentation requirements are met.
13. Coordinate the project construction programme, incorporating Enabling CSA works, Main CSA Works, cleanroom, Clean & Black Utilities generation/Distribution, Process Equipment Installation, office, and warehouse fit-out.
14. Attend daily tier meetings/weekly coordination meetings regarding construction.
15. Review and approve any site field instructions and manage commercial contract variations with EPCM, acting as a delegate for the MSD GES Project Manager.
16. Complete regular walkthroughs of the site for safety and check on progress.
17. Represent the client in commercial negotiations and clarification meetings.
18. Ensure that the EPCM team manages changes in construction and ensures all are captured, documented, and assessed for Quality/Safety/Cost or schedule impacts.
19. Ensure that the EPCM manages the design, construction, commissioning, qualification, schedule, and cost in collaboration with other project team members, MSD personnel, outside contractors, and vendors.
20. Ensure that the EPCM organisation reports construction progress as required against project deliverables.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Third level degree in an engineering discipline and/or a PMP in Project Management.
2. Proven experience in delivering significant capital projects within the pharmaceutical sector > €100MM.
3. A minimum of 10 years+ of relevant experience in capital projects, preferably in Pharm/Bio Pharm.
4. Understanding of the typical project life cycle from concept through to qualification with proven experience in this area.
5. Experience working in a Live Facility.
6. Hands-on attitude and demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
7. Ability to sequence critical activities in planning work for the construction phase.
8. Knowledge of cleanroom installation is essential.
