Position: Accommodation Supervisor
Department: Housekeeping
1. To be fully familiar with your departmental SOPs and procedures and ensure that these are implemented consistently when on duty.
2. The supervision the cleaning and servicing of all bedrooms/bathrooms, public areas and back of house areas including offices, changing rooms and storage space ensuring that hotel standards are met and bedrooms are to standard prior to returning them to reception.
3. To be aware of the day's / week's business in terms of room occupancy, special requirements, VIP needs and to liaise with reception frequently in order to remain updated with any changes that may arise.
4. To issue keys, rooms lists, house assistant checklist and cleaning schedules to housekeeping staff at the beginning of the shift and collect and check then at the end of the shift - all access cards must be signed in/out at the beginning/close of each shift.
5. To ensure, where possible, that all maintenance work / repairs in bedrooms are rectified prior to returning rooms back to reception.
6. To ensure that all equipment, trolleys and other equipment are maintained in good condition.
7. To follow targets set by the Accommodation Manager and contribute by making suggestions to improve the department.
8. To order accommodation supplies in accordance with correct purchasing procedures when needed, liaising with the Accommodation Manager.
9. To assist the Accommodation Manager in controlling operating costs of the department without compromising standards e.g. payroll/roster control (staffing level), budgets (increasing sales) and (cost control) supplies.
10. To minimise wastage of materials and energy through careful monitoring of staff.
11. To ensure that the procedure for lost property is strictly adhered to.
12. To maintain a happy team of staff who are properly trained, well motivated and who comply with company procedures and policies, taking corrective action where necessary.
13. To assist the Accommodation Manager in ensuring that every member of the accommodation department receives the required training to fulfil all legislative and company requirements and to develop the skills and capability required in their job - ensuring that training records are maintained.
14. To monitor staff performance daily. Job chats and performance reports should be used as management tools and any performance issues dealt with as they arise. Performance issues should not be left to grow. Sickness & Lateness reports should be used for updates with your Manager. Return to work forms must be completed for any days staff are off sick and filed appropriately.
15. To give full co-operation to any colleagues requiring assistance in a prompt caring and helpful manner and to be flexible in assisting around the hotel in response to business and client needs.
16. To oversee weekly schedules, attendance sheets, sick leave and holiday arrangements in the absence of the Accommodation Manager.
