We require a friendly, enthusiastic, kind and efficient Medical Receptionist to join our busy GMS/Private practice. This opportunity is to cover upcoming maternity leave with potential for a full-time opportunity. Experience is an advantage; however, full training will be provided. Full-time hours are over four days. Our priority at Gorey Family Practice is to provide the best patient care possible and to work as a team to provide this.
Responsibilities include:
* Greeting patients, coordinating appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
* Assisting patients in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries.
* Ascertaining patients' requirements and finding appropriate solutions.
* Triage of patient calls to assess priorities in conjunction with Medical Professionals.
* Liaison with hospitals and public health organizations.
* Document management and control.
* Understanding, implementing, and adhering to Confidentiality Policy.
* Cash handling and reconciliation.
* Overseeing waiting area including practice information.
* Coordination of certificate processing, prescriptions, and forms.
* Optimizing patient satisfaction in relation to availability and scheduling.
* Regular review of service delivery in relation to the various departments.
* Comforting patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
* Ensuring availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
* Maintaining patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
* Collecting payment for services received.
* Reviewing and maintaining stock levels as required, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
* Understanding and engaging in sensitivity and strict confidentiality in relation to patients' information to protect patients’ rights.
* Following policies and procedures and identifying and collaborating with the team to implement any changes required.
* Recognizing the importance of teamwork and the common goal.
The surgery operates from 8.30am - 6pm, Monday - Friday. Our receptionists' day commences at 8.15am and finishes at 6.15pm with one hour for lunch. The days of work will normally be fixed over four days per week. Patience, empathy, calm, and efficiency are useful personality traits for this role. All candidates should have some reception experience. The ability to multitask and work in a high-pressure environment will be beneficial. This position would be suitable for a mature individual who can remain calm under pressure and can manage a varied workload.
