Job Overview
The Support Worker will work under the supervision of, and be accountable to, the Social Care Worker (SCW) and Social Care Leader (SCL) who are on shift.
They assist in delivery of relevant parts of Daily Planners for each young person in the centre.

When undertaking Live Night duties, their specific role is to awaken Social Care staff who are on sleeping in duties on any occasion where residents require assistance during the night.
Professional Development
Support Workers are strongly encouraged to undertake subsidised further education opportunities which may lead to them being qualified in a relevant Social Care qualification.
Child Centred Care and Support
Responsibilities
* Attend and contribute to Young Peoples House Meeting forum
* Be familiar with access to records process and reinforce young peoples right to access such records
* Be familiar with Complaints Policy and promote complaints procedure with young people when appropriate
* Ensure that complaints made during their shift are identified and recorded under guidance and support from the SCW / SCL
* Facilitate young people availing of family access and record this
Effective Care and Support
Responsibilities
* Ensure an appropriate level of knowledge of referral information
* Participate in admission / transition / orientation process for young people received into the centre
* Contribute to presenting needs of young people as they arise, as directed by an SCW / SCL

Follow all guidance from the SCW / SCL in ensuring that these areas are promoted in daily practice.
Accommodation
Responsibilities
* Contribute to a nurturing, safe and caring environment
* Ensure high presentation of the centre through implementation of cleaning schedule
* Ensure that grounds are well maintained
* Implement organisational hospitality policy within the centre
Fire Safety
Responsibilities
* Participate in Fire Drills in accordance with Organisational policy
* Follow all fire safety procedures
* Identify any deficits that require follow up
Childrens Case and Care Records
Responsibilities
* Contribute to daily recordings and care folders as, and when, directed
* Contribute to Shift Handovers when required
Safe Care and Support
Responsibilities
* Have working knowledge and clear understanding of Organisational Child Protection Policy
* Manage Behaviour: Be up-to-date with all young peoples Placement Support Plan (PSP)
* Contribute to PSPs when reviewed via Team Meetings
* Implement Absent Management Plan
Health, Wellbeing and Development
Responsibilities
* Provision of Food and Cooking: Contribute to delivery of centres menu planner / cooking meals while promoting healthy nutrition
* Medical Care: Adhere to Organisational Medication Policy
* Promote importance of medical appointments with young people
* Facilitate medical appointments, where appropriate
Education
Responsibilities
* Facilitate school attendance, educational activities, and outdoor opportunities for young people
* Supervise play areas and play time as directed by the SCW / SCL
Governance
