Role:
The role of the Team Leader is a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of Day service. The successful candidate must provide leadership in the development of the service in line with Personal Outcomes Measures, HIQA standards, new directions and future service requirements.
The vision of the Orchard Services, Gort is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community. Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.

Reporting/Responsible To:
Team Manager /Service Coordinator/ Area Manager.
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold one of the following recognised professional qualifications:
• HETAC/NQAI BA HONS in Applied Social Studies/Social Care
• Open Training College (HETAC) accredited BA HONS in Applied Social Studies (Disability)
• A current Live Registration with NMBI is essential; RNID/RMHN qualification is desirable.
A relevant Community Qualification Community Development and Business enterprise or Business Studies Enterprise and Innovation.
A Management qualification is desirable.
A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. It is essential for the appointee to drive the transport that is assigned to the Service.
Experience:
The successful candidate must have management experience and experience of working in with people with an intellectual disability. Experience of overseeing day and an integrated day programmes in the day service setting is an advantage. Experience in community networking supporting individuals to partake in activities in their local community including realising employment opportunities, devising goal setting plans, developing programmes and programme implementation is desirable. Experience of assisting individuals with skill development and independence. Knowledge and experience of micro enterprises and social enterprises is desirable. Working with people with physical disabilities, complex medical needs, is essential. Experience of working with individuals with autism, nonverbal, challenging behaviour and mental health is an advantage. Knowledge and understanding of the assisted decision making and the Capacity Act.
Knowledge of new directions and the Easy Tool is an advantage.
Skills:
Candidates must demonstrate leadership. Experience in leading, managing, rostering and
supporting staff teams is essential. Candidates must have the ability to exercise good
judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and
verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy. Report
writing and record keeping is an essential part of the post
IT skills and experience in the use of multimedia technology are a requirement of the post.
Laimh is an advantage.
Working Hours:
Contracted hours will be based on a 14 day duty roster and will depend on the grade of the
successful candidate 78 hours a fortnight (SCL grade) 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade).
It is envisaged that this post will primarily be Monday to Friday with contracted hours of work liable to change between the hours of 8am and 8pm to meet the requirements of the service in line with New Directions. The successful candidate may be required to work some weekends, duty if necessary.
An On Call commitment is an essential requirement of the post.
