A Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer will join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all global AWS infrastructure. They support all AWS data centers and related equipment, ensuring continuous access to customers.
This individual will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, specialists, and managers to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing low-cost capacity for customers. They will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers employees to own them.
The Data Center Engineering Operations Team is critical in supporting AWS's rapid business growth and customer demands 24/7. They maintain the infrastructure of AWS facilities and ensure operational performance meets high standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary interface between AWS and Colocation providers' technical teams to address operational requirements within Availability Zones (AZ).
* Supervise on-site contractors to ensure works are compliant with established practices and local legislation.
* Manage Colocation suppliers to conduct routine maintenance and respond to emergency services for critical systems.
* Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for data center facilities.
* Engage in non-office on-call responsibilities and respond to emergency situations or incidents.
* Resolve infrastructure engineering issues and conduct root cause analysis with Colocation providers.
* Establish comprehensive documentation with Colocation providers.
* Recommend improvements to enhance data center safety, security, and availability.
* Maintain accurate data center infrastructure inventory through matrices and dashboards.
* Install racks and assess rack space, power, and cooling requirements.
* Lead new build and expansion projects to improve operations efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
* Holds a diploma or degree in an engineering-related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in facility management and operating/maintaining infrastructure equipment in critical facilities.
* Proficient in mechanical or electrical systems or both.
* Proven experience in major facilities incident management and bi-lingual communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline.
* Experience in operating and maintaining data centers or mission-critical facility management.
* Licence holder for interior wiring work or above.
* TOEIC 650+ or equivalent English communication skills.
