Our client, based in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, is a highly successful Irish family-run business involved in the waste management sector for over 40 years. Currently, they are recruiting a Material Recovery Facility Manager to join the team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Green Recycling facility, acting as a direct reporting line for all personnel working on-site. They will ensure that all waste processing plants and equipment are functioning efficiently, well maintained, and delivering budgeted results.
Role
1. Identify and implement best practices to maximize production and efficient operation of the facility. Understand the key drivers to improving performance at the site. Review daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs against targets, and implement plans with the team to ensure maximum performance.
2. In conjunction with direct reports, ensure that work rotas for operatives are scheduled to meet logistics, operational, and annual leave needs.
3. Ensure that the facility operates in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible by actively supervising day-to-day operations including staff numbers, agency staff, hours worked, processes and material handling, production versus targets, fuel usage and trends, 5S implementation, and all other relevant processes and activities.
4. Ensure sufficient quantities and quality of feedstock so that incoming loads are suitable for processing, with delivery sources informed immediately regarding contamination issues and pricing adjustments.
5. Ensure that waste materials handling, separation, and delivery to appropriate outlets are conducted in an efficient and compliant manner (including pre-sorting by loading machine operators).
6. Ensure all revenue and cost control measures are fully adhered to, including weighbridge traffic and ensuring waste received matches its categorization, access to the site, diesel access, and usage, etc.
7. Develop and implement a plant maintenance program, clearly identifying all fixed and mobile assets. Manage the roll-out of Assetminder through the facility as the tool for monitoring and logging maintenance activities.
8. Responsible for the development and up-skilling of maintenance employees as required.
9. Ensure stock management procedures for spare parts are developed and implemented.
10. Ensure all personnel are fully trained for their roles and that all work completed is in accordance with health and safety guidelines and practices. Ensure that all health and safety procedures and requirements relevant to the MRF and yard are fully adhered to, addressing any resultant staff issues through the relevant processes.
11. Provide annual leave cover for direct reports as required.
Requirements
1. Management experience in a production or waste management/processing facility.
2. Experience managing in a labor-intensive, multi-shift environment.
