What the day will look like Provide Law and Compliance advice to the business on projects, providing tailored solutions to issues.
Be commercially minded, pragmatic, and practical with a strong ethical compass.
Ensure that all regulatory reports, business requirements and notifications are submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland on a timely basis and in accordance with CBI expectations.
Lead and implement a robust risk-based compliance monitoring programme, record and communicate findings appropriately and report findings to the ASIL Board.
Assist with the implementation of an effective compliance communication and training plan consistent with Aon's global compliance training and communication initiatives to ensure that compliance policies and procedures are optimally cascaded to R&I Colleagues.
Keep up to date on compliance and regulatory risks, as well as any changes to local regulations and standard practices that may affect ASIL and the compliance program.
Responsibility for financial crime controls as part of PCF52 responsibilities; working with the UK Financial Crime team.
Responsible for identifying legal issues and presenting on legal matters in Ireland, working with the UK and Ireland legal team based in UK and Poland.
Identify and interpret relevant requirements/changes in order to provide advice and support to R&I colleagues to enable them to comply.
Assist where required with broader initiatives within the wider Aon Ireland Solution lines and on a regional level.
Ensure that issues raised by Internal Audit, External Audit and any other similar bodies are remediated.
Assisting the business in relation to capital markets transactions.
How this opportunity is different We have an opportunity for one to join as Head of Legal & Compliance for Aon Solutions Ireland Limited ("ASIL") and be the key compliance business partner for Aon's Retirement and Investment Solution Line ("R&I") based in Ireland.
To support the Aon Master Trust in Ireland.
The Head of Legal and Compliance (PCF12 and 52) is a key contributor to the risk, compliance and ethics programme and is responsible for assisting with the development of ASIL's compliance framework and being responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements, Aon's compliance policies and procedures.
With the help of the ASIL Board and Senior Management as well as both the local and global Aon Law and Compliance Function, the role holder will champion a sound compliance culture within ASIL and promote close collaboration between all Aon business units/functions, Risk and Compliance, thereby helping to empower staff to take personal responsibility for compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory and Aon policy requirements.
The Head of Legal and Compliance is part of an EMEA based Law and compliance function and will have access to lawyers and compliance experts in EMEA to help provide a seamless service to the Irish business.
The successful individual will collaborate closely with other functions, including Aon Law, Internal Audit, Finance, Human Resources, Data Privacy, and business unit management across ASIL to ensure that Aon prevents, detects, and remediates violations of applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including the Aon Code of Business Conduct.
In case of non-compliance, intensify or raise the issue with the relevant partners.
The Head of Legal and Compliance will act as the point of contact and liaison with the Central Bank of Ireland ("CBI"), Pension Authority, FSPO, Revenue and other relevant regulatory authorities, and maintain a satisfactory relationship whilst providing ongoing advice and counsel on compliance, risk, and local regulatory issues in conjunction with specialist colleagues such as the Financial Crime Team, Privacy, legal counsel etc.
Skills and experience that will lead to success Extensive experience and is capable of potentially stepping into their first PCF role.
Licensed Compliance Officer (LCI) qualifications (or equivalent).
Experience working in a MiFID firm with detailed knowledge and understanding of the Central Bank and EU regulations.
Strong academic background demonstrating analytical ability and capacity for handling regulatory frameworks.
Preferably a legal qualification and experience in an inhouse legal function.
