Role: Senior Speech & Language Therapist
Location: Grace Park Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9
Hours: 39 hours per week
Duration: 5-month contract
Overall Purpose of the Post: Childvision is currently recruiting for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist that will be responsible for the provision of a speech and language therapy service to include assessment and intervention, clinical supervision and ongoing service delivery to children with visual impairment and potentially a range of disabilities 0-18 years.
Roles & Responsibilities: Planning and Organising of Activities and Resources: · Be responsible for goal setting in partnership with client, family and other team members as appropriate.
· Taking responsibility for the achievement of service delivery targets by regularly monitoring, recording and reporting performance outcomes and statistics.
· To take a role in policy making and planning within the clinical lead at Childvision, and to advise management of future service developments and requirements.
· Communicate with and work in co-operation with (CDNT), primary care and other team
· Demonstrate sufficient clinical skills in assessment, planning, implementation and review of treatment / intervention programmes for child and young person caseload attending our services.
· In addition to clinical responsibility, you will be expected to develop further areas of clinical expertise as the service demands, in line with the organisation's commitment to continuous quality improvement.
· Demonstrating innovation in working within resource limitations to sustain and enhance the service.
· Taking responsibility for the line management and clinical supervision of SLT, volunteers/students within the team/service as required.
· To engage in joint work with other members of the Team, Health and Social Services and Education.
This will include e.g., parent and staff training, working with educators, therapy groups and participation in interdisciplinary programme planning, service delivery and evaluation as required.

Professional Development and Standards in the Service: · Providing a speech and language therapy service to include assessment diagnostics and intervention, clinical and performance supervision and ongoing service delivery to children with visual impairment and potentially a range of disabilities.
· Taking responsibility for continuing professional development to ensure evidence based practice.
· Contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of Childvision quality assurance initiatives.
· Collaborating skilfully with the Service Owner and other stakeholders while working In partnership with the Service Owner's parent/family/carer to identify goals, including complex situations.
· Ensure that privacy and dignity of the child or young person is respected at all times.
· Is adequately aware of policy, legislative and professional requirements to ensure appropriate standards in their area of responsibility.
· Ensuring that all records and technical data are up to date and available if required.
· Taking initiatives to move the service forward and showing willingness to try new ideas that add service delivery value.
· Ensuring strict compliance with health and safety standards and adhering to operational guidelines ensuring equipment is checked and working correctly in accordance with safety standards.
· Ensuring that professional standards are adhered to for the speech and language therapy service provided.
Monitoring and keeping up-to-date with developments in speech and language therapy including attending training courses and participating in research, be aware of current research and the implications of this for the service through self-education, training, and professional development
· Assessing children as required and producing relevant reports in line with Assessment of Need process.
· Ensure that professional standards are adhered to in line with IASLT and CORU
· Participate in clinical supervision sessions as required and performance review as arranged by the Service Manager or Designated person.
Team Working: · Attending and actively contributing to relevant clinical, professional and service meetings.
· Participating as a full member of the interdisciplinary service team.
· Involving the team in the running of the service and in decisions
· Facilitating staff development by providing support such as clinical supervision, mentoring, coaching and formal development planning.
· Understanding the complexity of working in a team and team dynamics.
· Understanding and facilitates interdisciplinary team working.
· Working in collaboration with the other members of the team in the planning and delivery of services for children, in particular in the development of person centred planning.
· Striving to ensure that all staff in their responsibility are adequately trained in line with legal and professional standards.
· Participating in training and developmental opportunities as identified and agreed.
· Supporting and contributing to research initiatives as required.
· Participate in the practice education of student therapists.
Actively participate in teaching / training / supervision of other Speech and Language and non-Speech and Language staff / students and attend practice educator courses as appropriate.

Terms & Conditions: Reporting to: Clinical Lead
Pay: Salary Scale Range €59,040- €69,531 (Pro rata)
Annual leave: Annual leave entitlement is 30 days (pro rata)
Probation: A probationary period of 2 months applies.

Garda Clearance/ Police Clearance:
These will be required for all prospective employees who will undertake relevant work or activities relating to children or vulnerable persons.
This will include any state outside of Ireland where the candidate has resided for a period of 6 months or more.
