About the role
Avoca are looking for a Retail Buyer to join our dynamic buying team! As Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for managing your department's product strategy, competitiveness, and margin targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage supplier relationships
2. Make suggestions for new product offerings based on consumer research
3. Range build your department to deliver sales and profit plans and in turn lead to a consistently high customer experience specific to each store's requirement
4. Analysis of departmental performance and effective reactions to the information gathered, maximising commercial opportunities.
5. Keep up to date with both online and bricks and mortar competitor activity, reviewing product strategy in line with competitor activity/initiatives.
6. Examine promotion details and resolve any pricing discrepancies
7. Provide all the needed information on products, their prices and promotion
8. End to end responsibility of products from concept to consumer including sample management
9. Be first to market attending buying appointments and trade shows to source new brands
10. Prepare and present department performance
11. Monitor product sales & be reactive in season to best & worst performers
Requirements and Qualifications
1. Previous experience as a Retail Buyer or similar position
2. Customer-oriented approach
3. Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
4. Team player
5. Agile thinker
6. Good time-management skills
7. Great interpersonal and communication skills
