AAG have an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated career focused and ambitious Environmental Health Safety Specialist seeking a role in a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding environment. Duties and Responsibilities
1. To take responsibility for Review, Interpretation, Communication, Implementation of all applicable Safety Legislation.
2. To implement perform internal audit program and perform regular spot check assessments in accordance with organisation Safety policies procedure to assure AAG continues to be safe and secure place to work.
3. Monitor safety performance and provide updates and recommendations to the EHS Quality Manager.
4. Generate Periodical HS performance stats identify trends and take appropriate actions to ensure safety standards compliance are maintained communicated.
5. Co-ordinate Risk Assessment Programme and appropriate follow-up actions.
6. Support Occupational Health Monitoring programs – assessing trends proposing recommendations.
7. Identify Training Needs Programs and subsequently develop and deliver to Employees, Contractors, and Customers to ensure AAG maintains the required degree of competence with regard to Safety Awareness.
8. Lead incident reporting investigation ensuring root cause analysis and propose confirm corrective/preventative actions are implemented.
9. Generate Management reports both internally, AAG Group and external agencies as appropriate.
10. Support evaluation of new activities / equipment regarding HS Legislation implementation.
11. Ensure continuous development and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan.
12. Maintain training statistical data records as appropriate.
13. Coordinate Safety Committee, 1st Aid activity programs.
14. To liaise with other AAG Group EHS colleagues in relation to relevant issues / developments.
15. Liaisons with: Internal Departments HR, OH Nurse Doctor, Operations, Health & Safety Authority, Personal Injury Assessment Board, Insurance Companies etc.
16. Support the EHS Quality Manager with the development of a safety culture utilising regular communication media Safety Topics Awareness campaigns.
17. To support EHS specialist team and other members of the Quality Team, in carrying out their duties.
18. Undertake projects and assignments as allocated by the EHS Quality Manager.
Candidate Requirements
1. Hold a degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
2. Must have experience in Safety Management System and potential implementation (preferably OHSAS 18001).
3. Understand and be able to interpret Safety legislation and compliance standard requirements.
4. Be able to demonstrate a successful record as a H&S professional, with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in a dynamic industrial environment.
5. Be interested and willing to learn about all aspects of the Health, Safety and Environment aspects of this broad role.
6. The EHS specialist should possess excellent communication skills, should be able to challenge and positively influence in a busy operational environment.
7. Have the ability to interact readily across different departments and to engage Senior Management to achieve improved health and safety performance.
Typical Working Conditions
1. Must satisfy and maintain the required medical standard.
2. Work is performed at the AAG Hangar in Shannon.
3. PPE is provided by AAG, and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work.
4. Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
