Project Officer West Connacht (Agri-environmental)
The national agri-environment climate measure, ACRES, aims to achieve improved biodiversity, climate, air and water quality outcomes through a habitats-based approach.
Farmers participating in the Co-operation approach will have the assistance of a Local Co-operation Project Team, who will assist with the implementation of the scheme at the local level.
The Project Officer's primary role is to support farmers and farm advisors throughout the delivery of the scheme.
The job involves a mix of field and office-based work, requiring excellent communication and organisational skills, and a keen interest in the environment.
The ideal candidate should enjoy working outdoors, have a degree in agriculture, ecology, environmental or related discipline, and a full clean driver's licence.
Duties and responsibilities include providing agri-environmental advice and support to participant farmers, liaising with and providing support to farm advisors, and coordinating and delivering training events.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and a positive, enthusiastic approach to work.
Project Officers will be employed on a full-time fixed term contract basis, with a starting salary of €38,000 per annum and opportunities for career progression and promotion during the project.
