Job Description Occupli are recruiting a Safety Advisor Corporate and Business Unit for our client in the Utilities industry in Dublin.
This is a full-time permanent position.
Reporting to the Head of Safety, the Safety Advisor will advise various Business functions within all aspects of Occupational Health & Safety.
Responsibilities The primary accountabilities associated with this role include but are not limited to the following:
Establish trusted, credible relationships with Corporate Centre Business Leaders and managers.
Collaborate with Mangers to reduce accident/incident rates across a range of Health & Safety categories resulting in reductions in equipment damage & lost time due to injury.
Support the Head of Safety, in maintaining the ISO 45001 Safety Management standard across the Company and delivering the Health& Safety Strategy.
Influence and mentor Leaders to build a safer work environment, use of the accredited safety management system, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company safety policies.
S afety audits and inspections at assigned Company locations.
Prepare and documenting risk assessments.
Participate in Corporate Safety Committee's as a trusted advisor.
Be Safety Lead for Emergency response measures at HQ and other associated sites.
Prepare, research and document safety task procedures, detailed and timely reports and correspondence for internal customers and external bodies (e.g.
the Health and Safety Authority) Participate in Accident/Incident Investigations and determining corrective and preventive actions.
Respond to submissions/complaints from operations Directorates or employees in a timely manner.
Evaluate Safety components within Procurement processes.
Assess & give safety advice on new business opportunities.
Collaborate with Regional Safety Advisors and assist where required.
Requirements The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years' experience in a Safety Advisor, Officer or Specialist role.
Experience in managing geographically spread multiple site operations will be a distinct advantage.
Ideally you will be educated to primary degree level in a relevant discipline and at a minimum must hold a qualification in Occupational Health & Safety at NFQ Level 8 or NARIC Ireland Foreign Qualifications equivalent.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and be able to work on their own initiative in a team environment.
In depth knowledge of Irish Health and Safety Law is essential along with experience of working within organisations with strong Safety Consultation and Safety Representative engagement processes.
Experience and qualifications in Carriage of Dangerous Goods (ADR/IMDG/ICAO) operations, would be a distinct advantage in this role.
An ISO 45001 Audit qualification, would be an advantage.
Experience with ISO accredited systems.
The role requires an ability to work independently, be capable of working under own initiative with the ability to motivate and support others.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and have a good understanding of safety management systems.
Candidates must be adept at conducting research, to ensure the most up-to-date and current safety information is used at all times in the preparation of documents.
Flexibility in times of attendance, a willingness to travel, a current clean full driving licence (Cat B) and the use of a car are essential .
